In the year 2000 Maria's daughter partnered with her to run and own Mariposa Interpreting. The collaboration was something that the mother daughter duo thoroughly enjoyed. Sandie took care of the office while Maria kept a full schedule working in Superior Court, out in the field, and training and teaching up & coming interpreters as an instructor at Riverside Community College, and in San Bernardino. Sandie followed in her mothers footsteps by bringing her own children to the office, and then moving the office into her home when her children were attending school. Being able to spend time with her 3 grandkids on a daily basis was the joy of Maria's life. Tragically, in October 2002 while out on assignment Maria suffered a stroke, that would take her to Heaven a few days later. The interpreting world had lost one of its pioneers in the industry, and her family & friends had lost a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and Sunday School teacher.
Sandie Elena Ramirez Cervantes continues to run Mariposa Interpreting with the same convictions and principles that her mother founded the business on over 40 years ago. It remains important to her to leave a legacy that honors her mother, her family, and the Lord.
Sandie has been married for over 30 years, has 3 beautiful & creative adult children, and lives in California where she loves serving in her church, spending time at the beach, hiking, and hanging out with family & friends.
